Email domains
Let anyone signing up with your company email join the organisation automatically.
Registering a domain saves you from inviting every person in your company by hand: anyone who signs up with an email on that domain is assigned to your organisation automatically.
How it works
You add your company's domain, acme.com for instance. From then on, someone signing up as
person@acme.com joins your organisation with no invitation needed.
Two details about the order of things matter:
- The assignment happens on email verification, not on sign-up. Until the person clicks the activation link they receive, they do not join the organisation. That way a mailbox nobody has proven never gets access to your content.
- Generic domains are ignored. Gmail, Outlook and the like do not work here: if they did, anyone with a free mail account would walk into your organisation. Those people have to come in by invitation.
What it does not do
Registering a domain does not affect people who already have an account. It only acts on new sign-ups: if a colleague had already registered before you added the domain, they still need an invitation.
It does not change the role anyone joins with either, and it does not replace member management: people who join by domain then appear in Members & invitations like anyone else.
Removing a domain
Deleting a domain stops the automatic assignment from then on. It removes nobody: whoever already joined through that domain is still a member, and taking them out has to be done from the member list.
